Historical Data: Fixture Results and Bookmaker Odds

Whoever wishes to become a serious gambler and start winning money, or even dreams of making a living from betting, needs to analyse some historical data.

A source in the Internet which is simply a gold mine is www.Football-Data.co.uk. Here you will finds fixture results and bookmaker odds going back to 1993/1994 (up to 18 years of information!) available for downloading as Excel spreadsheets.

This source contains data for eleven different European football leagues:

Unfortunately, the abbreviations in the tables are somewhat difficult to understand and I have spent a while finding out what each term means. However, this is really the only challenge with the data from Football-Data.co.uk. Otherwise the data is just perfect and error-free (I made a few checks) and an invaluable source of data.

The following table lists the abbreviations:

      Hi Robert,

The only source of match results together with first and second half odds that we know of is Oddsportal.com.

Here’s a link to the first half 1X2 odds of Leicester v. Liverpool in the EPL. You can see the neighbouring tabs for full-time and 2nd half.

Unfortunately, the only way of capturing this data is accessing Oddsportal’s API or manually scraping it from their Archived Results section. And don’t forget that there will be many errors in the data – here’s an article pointing some of these out, and here you will find a brief Oddsportal User Guide.

To get the benefits of seeing the full range of bookmakers’ odds for each match, you will need to create an access account by signing-up with Oddsportal. This is hassle-free, cost free, and doesn’t lead to any deluge of marketing – we’ve not been contacted since signing-up ourselves almost 10 years ago.

I hope this helps in some small way, and thanks for taking the time and trouble to contact us.
